B. M. Birla Planetarium is a large planetarium in Chennai providing a virtual tour of the night sky and holding cosmic shows on a specially perforated hemispherical aluminium inner dome. It is located at Kotturpuram in the Periyar Science and Technology Centre
The Periyar Science and Technology Center which is housed in an extensive complex at Kotturpuram in Chennai will interest science buffs. The Center, which began in 1983, has many exhibits on science and technology. The center has been named after a great radical leader and visionary from South India, Thanthai Periyar. He was one of the first believers of adopting modern scientific approaches in comprehending various phenomena.
